This country is always like this! Corruption, indiscipline is all we see wherever we turn to.
If you get on a local bus and pay Rs.3 for Rs.2.50 ticket, you would never be given the 50p back! But, if you do not have 50p, the conductor will make you to give it to him before you leave the bus and you may have to listen to local language too. The conductor is a silent spectator when you have to face some issue in the bus. This happened to me just a couple of days back. I was on my way back home and boarded a bus to get down at a nearby stop. I saw a man sitting in ladies seat and since no other seat was vacant, I told him that it’s a ladies seat. He was drunk and started an argument! I felt so irritated but kept silent. The conductor was watching all this in spite of my colleague telling him to solve the issue as the man was drunk.
Now a days, even election is a game of money. Whoever wants to win, know the short route of spending money by giving people TV, refrigerator, etc to get their votes. Before the elections, your roads get a new coat, there is no power cut, no water problem and you live a king’s life. But, all this is short lived cos after the elections, you have history getting repeated.
Discipline is one thing missing everywhere in the country! If you log a call for any of your consumer products, no body will come to your help. You have to keep calling them 4 or 5 times to make them come home and solve the issue for you. The same happens at the work place. You join a new job in a new company and to give you a computer, they take their own time! You have to go and show your face to the admin everyday until you are given a comp! The same holds good for anything related to the admin desk. Even your bus pass, your seat allotment, etc everything will happen at their will. These things can happen fast only if your boss interferes, else the state is same! You hold a post graduation with an experience of 5 yrs in the industry, you still have to go and stand behind this guy everyday who would have a degree but just that he is in the admin desk.
The politicians concentrate on developing the cities by building in fly-overs and bringing in better transportation. They also help the industries to set up in the cities. Anything better happens, happens only in the cities. Cities are supposed to be free from power cuts, but what happens in the other parts of the state? They have power cut for a minimum of 3 hrs every day, either in the mornings or in the nights. Though the cities are supposed to be free from power cuts, they still undergo the power less nights with voltage fluctuation. Nobody bothers to pick up your call when you try to call them over.
How much ever anyone make movies about all this, we all enjoy for those 2.5 hrs and appreciate the creator but once we are out from the theatre, things are all the same again! Everyone blames the Govt. and the Govt. blames the people. We all lament and feel bad for all this and even if we are all educated, we don’t want to take the responsibility on our shoulders. If the street light does not glow, we blame the Electricity board but never bother to inform them if the light keeps glowing all through the day!!
This is one reason, the people moving to the Foreign countries never want to come back and settle here. Its very disciplined in those countries and they give importance to all these small issues. Nobody can board a train without a ticket, nobody can spit on the roads and nobody can steal from a shop. They have CCTV cameras set up everywhere and a dedicated team is assigned the job of observing the same.
We admire those countries but do not take a step forward in our country. It’s a pass a ball game in our land as we keep passing it to the politicians and they pass it back to us.
With the media now taking up initiatives and bringing up many issues to light, at least some of them get solved. That way, our media and press are doing a great role taking risks to capture some of the “Exclusive” shots.
Our country has faced so many scams till now. We all discuss among all our relatives, friends and acquaintances about how our tax money is being misused. Even if our politicians create world-record scams, we forget it very soon like an amnesia patient. Again comes the Elections and we don’t mind voting for the same set of people who has spoilt the entire nation.
In our country alone, rules are not followed. If you book a second class ticket in train, anybody can enter the compartment by just having a general quota ticket. The complaint falls on to TTR’s deaf ears and he says “The entire train is like that, people have got in, what can I alone do?!” So, the next time you travel, you have to book A/C ticket by paying more or avoid going by trains. Even while getting in to the bus, we don’t follow the queue. It happens in our country that an ordered pizza reaches you in 30 minutes and it takes more time for the ambulance to take you to the hospital even if its an emergency!
Either, our rule-makers should amend the rules or the people should take some initiatives. Though media shows many programs to talk about the state of the nation, we applaud the speakers but happily forget afterwards.
The rules should be in such a way that the law breakers should be heavily punished and looking at this, the others should think to commit anything wrong. We don’t mind spending a whole chunk of our tax money to save a terrorist for 10 months long treatment instead of killing him for having killed so many of our fellow Indians. In spite of seeing the culprits getting punished, the crime still goes on but doesn’t come down which proves that the rules are not strong enough. People can easily get away by paying money.
Its high time that our Nation changes and all the rules fall in place. Let us work towards having better law makers and politicians which would ensure a better life for all of us.
