You may be wondering what this topic means.
Well, I mean to say, we, humans have increased
our plasticity in using this plastic! Go shopping, get things in plastic bags!
Go to buy dresses, get a couple more of those plastic covers! Come Navaratri,
pack sundal in plastic covers! How brilliant! The whole idea of eating that
healthy snack is gone for a toss! Pack some dishes to some of our close ones,
put them all in plastic boxes! Wow!
Why this
plasticity is not seen in any of the other major forums like our relationships
at home or work. So, if any disappointment arises, we get angry and even end
the relationship!
It’s a wakeup call for every one of us!
Plant more trees, agreed! What happened to the
thousands of saplings planted already? Where are, they gone? Why isn’t it
raining, then? What is going wrong with it?
Not only as a responsible citizen, but as a
responsible parent too, what are we going to give to our next generation? The
lush greenery and the water we all enjoyed, should it all stop with us? Is it
not our duty to let the young ones have the same privileges? We all are
answerable!
We don’t reuse it and throw it after every
single use! Where will it all go? Have we ever thought of?
When it rains, the plastic covers clog up our
water outlets and that is why it takes time to clear the water logging. This
plastic is being dumped in to the sea, finally which is being consumed by the
fishes and it’s a circle! Man, falls sick eating those fishes and other sea
foods. It’s like we are killing ourselves, bringing harm to humanity! Why so
many lectures on plastic, not to use microwave, not to use plastic plates and
spoons while the food is hot, etc. So many people get cancers! Though
psychologically, it’s all vented up anger, the environment is also posing a
threat! Why invite such things in to our holy body?
Can we do something? Can we inspire our kids in
some way?
Everyone in the family can plant a sapling, as
a first step and check upon it regularly.
From today, let’s say NO to plastic. I know it’s
tough but it’s not impossible. Starting from our home, let us stop this
plastic. It’s cheaper to produce plastic but it’s very expensive to dispose it!
Change all those plastic containers in the kitchen to the good old stainless
steel dabbas!
Carry that jute bag or a cloth bag to the
market! Fill water in the kudam or the large pot, don’t use plastic. May be
small things will lead to great changes soon.
Don’t ask how about the milk packets and
groceries!
We’ll get to it soon. First let’s stop what we can. Just like we now don’t encourage the aerated soft drinks, lets discourage this plastic altogether!
We’ll get to it soon. First let’s stop what we can. Just like we now don’t encourage the aerated soft drinks, lets discourage this plastic altogether!
Stop buying ‘take away’ from the restaurants
which packs food in plastic! Stop taking fruits and other puja items to temple
in plastic covers. Don’t go to supermarkets which have a plastic cover for each
vegetable!
The plastic if dumped in the mud refuses to
decompose! We plant saplings from plastic covers!! Let’s do what’s possible and
wait. Don’t have a party with disposable plastic spoons, plates and glasses.
Already we have so many issues to tackle, why
add up to the list!
We have water surrounding us, yet, we don’t
know how to clean up that water and use for drinking? We fight with the neighbors
for natural resources and when the problem is common, how can we stand united?
We have so many engineers in the country, yet we don’t know how to recycle
plastic?
It’s time to do something, now!
Though it may sound a small issue, it is NOT. We
have a huge one in front of us and if we fail to address it now, we will face
the consequences.
Let us stop this plasticity and stay as rigid
as iron towards it!
