Anything for me?!

I always cook for my hubby and kids and they all love my cooking. As each one's taste buds are different, I end up making everyone's choices.
For example, hubby and son needs kuzhambu, come what may, my daughter needs rasam and curd. Making the same everyday is so boring for me! I was craving for kurma, the white kurma that you get in restaurants, the flavor makes you to eat two more chapatis, I wanted to make it with left over veggies in the fridge but nobody else wanted it!
Since hubby was leaving early for work related travel, Sunday menu was more kuzhambu, his favourite, beans parupu usili, my daughter's favourite and mysore rasam, which my son is happy about! Since it was elaborate, I quickly finished cooking because I had to give head bath to my daughter!
Since they had a class in the morning, I postponed her head bath as I was already tired from giving my son, head bath! My craving was given up instantaneously because I was exhausted and hubby was already starting! I thought today there's no Karma to eat the Kurma ;)

Monday morning, I made the usual lunch box menu, sambar rice with raw banana curry and rasam. After the kids left, I had laundry to do! After that it was 1 but I was craving for the white kurma!

I immediately went into the kitchen before my mood changes, cut an onion, potato, added the spices, ground the paste and kept it in cooker along with kid's afternoon rice! The flavorful kurma was ready! The fragrance was heavenly! This was the exact Kurma I wanted to eat! I enjoyed it with a plate of rice and kept some for kids, in case..

After kids came, I asked if my son wanted some. He saw the color and smelled and said No! I want Kuzhambu mammu! My daughter said this smells like vegetable rice but I don't want it now. I said, fine!

At a later thought, I was happy I finally made something for me, today! It kind of motivated me, excited me to look forward to eat! I am very sure, my mom will taste it and then may say no, thank you but I will be very happy if she just tastes! She too disappointed me in the evening!

So, what? I heard this inside me! That's it!
I have decided to make something exclusively for me, at least once in two months, even if not often! For, I too deserve the care I give to others and kurma tasted well too even when it wasn't shared!

As a mom, we end up eating what's made for everyone else but don't make the time and effort to make our own favorites!

So, what have you made for yourself today?
