Reality Shows?

Too many reality shows, these days! Everywhere kids are singing and dancing, in front of the camera!
In reality, what are these?
We see many children participating in these events, some take it easy, others make it tough for parents to convince and console them that losing is a part of the game.  Parents and schools encourage them well and some kids are really talented and they need a stage for exposure! But, some kids participate for the fun component alone and it might be good in helping them overcome the stage fear.
Parents and kids get ready early in the morning for the shoot and wait at the venue eagerly for their turn to perform on stage. After so many takes and re-takes, the day’s events make the kid tired and they come home late in the night. The kid has to go to school the next day and usual homework, tests all continue. Once back from school, he or she has to prepare for the lessons as well as for the next week’s shoot. Sometimes, mom accompanies and sometimes, dad comes along. It is challenging for working parents to take off from work and arrange for all the costumes, make-up etc and till the kid’s performance comes to an end on stage, parents are tensed about the performance and the results.
Today’s shows on the television focus majorly on their ratings and so, even for singing competitions, kids are expected to dance wearing heavy dresses and make up! I never understand why a singer needs to dance on stage?
The legendary singers like SPB sir, Jesudass sir, P. Susila amma, Janaki Amma or Chitra mam haven’t danced even once on stage. It’s their music that moves us from the inside and not their movements on stage.
It’s high time our channels make these shows close to reality and focus on the real talent rather than performance and other aspects.

  1. So true vishnu...

I think the kids are more pressurised becos of the expectations created by the media and the panel of judges..

Also the media creates a build up/hype for few contestants, which is again an issue..

Everything is just for the shake of rating alone & not finding the real talent..

And one more issue is the SMS to ur fav. contenstant...again it's just cheating the public..The media and mobile services alone r earning the money...

The most ultimate thing is, in one of the reality show, they have announced the winner based on the number on the SMS votings..and after that the panel members/judges were saying that the people had selected the wrong person as a winner.
I was so shocked to c that.. v (public/people) spent our money and voted for our fav. contestants & they r telling that we had chosen the wrong person..it's too much...then they should not asked us to vote nah...
it's just my view abt the reality shows & i don't wanna hurt anyone..
