Everyone at home wakes up one morning, to find that she's not at home. Nobody has realized.
All are having a calm and pleasant morning until they want breakfast. Nobody has made anything and everyone assumes food is ready already.
Someone is looking for their sock, someone's yet to have a bath and hair do, someone hasn't had coffee.
Then the chaos starts! It's getting late! Everyone is in a hurry and suddenly someone says Amma isn't around!
Amma has silently walked away from home, unable to bear it all up! Nobody respects her and doesn't like her disciplining them and now everyone notices her absence!
Appa is worried, where Amma would have gone! He drops the kids in school and talks to his manager over phone that he isn't well.
Comes home running and makes something for kids lunch, calls Amma's parents and realize she hasn't gone there. He becomes desperate to find her and goes everywhere looking for her.
Its 12 already and kids are back from school as its an exam day. They are in 11th and 9th standards, a boy and a girl. Now, the pressure increases, he asks Amma's parents to be with kids and goes out on the bike looking for her.
He doesn't know where to go as Amma is a home bird and doesn't go out often without them. Still he goes to the temple she visits but returns crestfallen. He calls up her close friend only to realize, she doesn't know! She hasn't taken her mobile phone too.
Amma is now sitting in a library as a visitor. She had a water bottle with her and sipping a little water, she recollects what all happened.
She's wanted to maintain the house, to cook and look after them but nobody likes if she asks them anything about studies or work! Everyone is busy in their own world with their gadgets but nobody looks at others face when talking. Its all a mono syllable reply. Every morning, she has to wake up before them, tidy up and plan for the days menu. Nobody would help her and after all have left home, she has to goto work! She does a part time job as a teacher in a nearby school.
She comes home by 3 before everyone's back and prepares the evening tiffin. People come in, have it or leave it like as if it's a restaurant, talk on the phone, watch tv and get locked up in their rooms till dinner time or Appa's arrival whichever is later!
Once on the dining table, tv plays on while eating in spite of her telling umpteen number of times that's not allowed! After food, everyone hits bed and she has another hour's work left!
She felt it all too much for her! The spouse whom she loved so much, the babies for whom she stayed awake the whole night, have all outgrown her lap so easily, nobody talks openly to her!
How much she wanted the kids, the same love she wanted from her husband. Life is not complete that once kids are there, the couple shouldn't sit and talk! They still need their time and that will help her! She does so much for everyone and nobody bothers! It all goes under the word Mother, she has to do! Every mom does!
True, every mom does, but how many do it happily? If dosa isn't available for a day, kids will refuse to eat! Who knows, she does the batter when everyone happily naps on Sundays! If she does in the evening and one of them calls for an outing, immediately a comment will prop up saying what you do all day without making the batter, now you have chosen the time! Yeah, she sworn in front of the Lord that she'll make the batter only when someone calls her out! What nonsense! She's doing all that only for you! Why can she not buy from outside, will be the next discussion.
Oh yeah, then when you fall sick, you can blame her so easily that the stale panipuris you had outside didn't affect you but only this batter made dosa infected you!
She gives her best and strives to give nothing but the best to the people who mean the world to her! She goes out of way each time to support the family members. She always thinks nothing should go wrong because of her.
Years together, the volcano is building inside her and with all the coldness, it finally erupts one day! The Lava will be fierce for she has kept it all inside her.
Being late for a movie, after 3 years of not going out together and spouse commenting you've not missed anything, don't get tensed has made her stop going to movies with him again! Though she likes to watch movies, its going with him makes it even more special. Its not missing that matters but its a nice feeling to go in before the movie starts and look at each other in those dim lights! Words cannot describe every feeling!
Just like that, people at home hurt her and how can she keep it going all along? What will she do to vent her feelings? Why does she always has to ask for a hug? She's the one who keeps waiting till everyone reaches home safely. She's the one who prays for all the members of her family.
Amma decided to get back home but with a determined mind. She decided to shrug the gloom feeling around her and would make herself a promise that she would spend time with people who respect her. Slowly, she walked home.
Appa was so relieved to see her! Kids came and stood near her and asked her where was she? She didn't reply and went to the kitchen to make dinner. They all ate in silence as usual and today the daughter came in to help her. She silently accepted and went to bed. Appa was anxious to know and asked her. She said I need a break too, you spend with your friends, kids have their way of taking a break and this is my way. From tomorrow, I would come home only by 5.
The next morning, Amma woke up early, finished cooking and left home and went to school. She taught kids and met the principal to extend her time and take tuitions for the less privileged kids. She spent two hours more in school and came back home by 530. Children at home managed their evening tiffin and nobody cribbed!
Dinner time wasn't silent today. All wanted to know what happened to her and she said she's taking extra classes for the students and that weekends too she has planned to do the same.
Saturday morning, Amma left home by 11 and came back by 4. Appa suggested they go out for dinner and everyone agreed. It was a pleasant and contented evening! Kids asked for her forgiveness and she said I accept it but that doesn't mean you can repeat such things!
Sunday, Appa helped her in batter preparation and kids helped in cleaning.
Home is also a team, and everyone is a contributor. Amma and Appa form the rules and others have to follow it up! Kids are encouraged to talk openly to parents about their day and discuss anything during dinner. We can't rate everyone's performance as a corporate but the family that shares moments together stays together!
