What all I could do in the US for the 14 months I stayed here...
Though the flight was tiring with uncertainties, we landed
in my cousin’s place and stayed there for a week. Had homemade food as we
landed and it was heavenly! Once we moved to our apartment, things started
changing for good.
We took time and slowly settled and I liked the apartment. Though
the fear of staying in ground floor gave me sleepless nights with the fire
alarm going on at the most unexpected times, organizing the things and buying
new things excited me.
I watched some 15-20 movies in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and I
enjoyed all of them which I could never do back home!
Made my parents visit this country and had a lovely time
with them.
Its again like a confidence booster that we could adapt very
quickly to this environment and even kids co-operated so well. Kids were our
motivators in helping us get rid of the jet lag and how quickly they adjusted
to the car seats, the new school, the language and friends. They did a
wonderful job!
My hubby got the license in such a less time that we didn’t
have to disturb others for our everyday living! He could remember all the
routes so well and adapted so easily.
I did an online certification course, that I am completely
unfamiliar and got the certification to my own surprise! My parents presence
here made that possible.
Though we had more cleaning work to do here, I feel the strain is less here because of the gadgets and I slowly created a cleaning routine for myself.

I am glad that I made few friends here, all of them are
close to me and are friends for life!
May be if I could accept life, I could have been happier and
with less fear factor. I’m thankful for the morning walks I took and the music
classes that kids started here.
Overall, it’s a milestone in our lives, these 14 months have
been and will be remembered by all of us.
Alien to the western culture, as we landed in December, we
saw the Christmas lights, saw the Santa at a mall, the spring, Easter egg hunt,
pajama day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, grandparent’s day, thanksgiving in
school, with the visits to the zoo, vacations to Houston, Arkansas, New York/new
jersey, Niagara Falls, Boston and san Antonio and not to forget our visits to
the temples here.
I have no regrets in going back, as I know that’s where my
heart belongs to and I feel kids need that education and those values.
Thanks to God for having made all this possible and the journey,
memorable.
Mera Bharat Mahaan, here I come back to you!
