On her own
I met an old woman in a share auto yesterday when I had been to the library. I noticed her but didn't give her my attention since the vehicle was full. She was sitting opposite to me near the door while I was in the middle facing the road. She had a bag in her hand. She was tired, I thought may be due to her age. She would have been in her sixties or even more!
When the vehicle stopped at panagal park, two people got down and so she was the only one sitting in my opposite seat. The driver waited for someone to board but nobody came. He suddenly said, Pati, move to the opposite side and sit.
An uncle behind me and I were thinking why is he asking her to move?! That uncle said, why is he disturbing her?! With much difficulty, she moved and sat next to me, asked me to hold her bag. She also needed help to sit.
After she settled down, I returned her bag. Within 5 minutes, she told me to help her find her specs which she couldn't find in her bag. She said, I dropped it inside but now I'm not able to find them. Within no time, I took them out for her and she was super happy! She thanked me twice and said, she had fever and so, unwell.
I was wondering why was she travelling alone, that too with a bag! So many thought bubbles sprang up inside my head! What if she misses her stop, what if she couldn't get down without help, what if the driver wasn't understanding (which he wasn't) and so many more! It was almost 1 and I was thinking if she needs lunch or water! Before these bubbles started to grow big, my stop came already and all the bubbles disappeared in a jiffy!
I just prayed she should reach safe! We don't know what's her story and her need to travel alone on a hot September afternoon!
