I have always thought, having a sister will make me happier, with a person to share our secrets, so that we can talk anything under the Sun.
God has gifted me friends who are the unborn sisters with whom I can share anything! After seeing a few real life sisters, I feel God has done the best for me! On the other hand, I have also seen sisters who are really blessed to have each other.
Being a girl, I always thought sisters can feel, share the pain but the J factor takes precedence over all the others. She doesn't feel genuinely happy for her sister's success. She doesn't like to share her stuff, be it clothes or games to accessories and this bitterness continues.
The comparison is a thin vein that goes on in the family which makes a scar in their hearts and this hurt keeps popping up every time. She immediately compares if her sister is settled while she isn't! It starts from a very trivial dress to education, wedding and everything!
Anu and Meenu were brought up in the same way by their parents and they are two years apart. Anu being the elder is accommodative and Meenu is a live wire. Nobody knows when they will get hit by the electric shock.
Both sisters grew up, got married and settled down in the same city. During college, the comparison grew high and Meenu would never use even a hair clip if Anu had used it before. After Anu left the house, Meenu was the princess. She got closer to mom while Anu was trying to accommodate to her new environment with in-laws. Soon Meenu got married too and parents were in the home town. Sisters would meet rarely due to each other's schedule.
After few years, their dad passed away due to health issues and now Mom had to be taken care. Since Anu was with in-laws, she couldn't bring her mom to her place so Meenu made use of this opportunity and took mom with her. Mom was the one who cooked, cleaned and took care of everything in Meenu's house and even Meenu's kid was taken care by mom. Meenu was pampered!
Whenever Anu invited mom, she would say she will check with Meenu and it never happened that mom would get to stay with Anu. Meenu will give some reason or the other that she needs Mom to help and take her back, home.
Soon, changes came in for Anu and she started to live with her husband and kids as her in-laws decided to move to a temple town. Even then, she couldn't get her mom to stay with her because of her sister. Even when she fell sick, there was nobody to help! She missed mom so badly and would cry in the nights. Her hubby would console her saying he will try to bring her home.
Anu really needed mom but Mom wouldn't think about her and offer to help because of her survival instinct and remained at Meenu's. When Anu talked to Mom once about it and even Anu's husband invited her to stay with them, Mom bursted out saying it was Meenu who took her with them when she was all alone. So Anu understood the emotional blackmail but couldn't do anything as Meenu was very sensitive and would create an image as if Anu is interfering.
Days went by and soon Meenu's husband had to go abroad on a business trip. Meenu was all the more uncontrollable. She woke up late, had a late breakfast and everything went smooth for her as mom was there! But, Meenu's husband realised this and silently took a step. He gave a shocker to Meenu that they have to go onsite if he has to continue in the job. Meenu didnt accept at all and asked him to look out for another job. But he was adamant that they should travel and told her he can later on pull mom once they settle down and the positives of staying abroad.
Anu was secretly happy! As the day neared, Mom had more work along with the emotional burden of being separated from the grandson. Before they moved, Mom was shifted to Anu's. Mom actually had no work as Anu and her husband took good care of her. Slowly, Mom realised her daughter's value and how she was blurred! She pitched in to help Anu and her cooking fetched her appreciations from her son in law and grand children. She had time for herself!
There in the new place, Meenu had a really tough time as she had lost touch with cooking and other chores. She used to call mom and crib and that she would soon send tickets and told Mom not to settle down. Mom just kept quiet and when the Visa process was started, she spoke to Meenu's husband that its too early to travel as they haven't settled yet and she's not interested to travel that long hours alone in the flight. He understood in the right sense and said Meenu is very adamant.
Soon Meenu was convinced by her husband that visa wasn't through and she kept quiet. He had given a master stroke by saying he would start processing visa for his parents if she found herself alone, to which Meenu kept quiet.
Soon all was good and Anu was making up for all the lost time with mom.
The End!
