You’re not enough!

As a wife, as a mom, whatever I do, is not enough!

If I am at workplace, how much ever I do, it’s not still enough and I am not going that extra mile and I am not being proactive!

If I am a home maker, the chapatis aren’t that soft, the gravy can be better, that mysorepak is good but not your best!

Guys!

What is the issue here?
I do so much from dawn to night, yet my job for the day need not be recognized, at least, acknowledged!
I get up at 5 even if I have to sleep at 12!

From 5, my cooking starts. Packing of the lunch boxes for kids, waking
them up, helping them getting ready and at 8 I can have my tea. Then, the rest of the cooking and packing of the other 2 boxes and when I reach office, I am already tired. Yet, the passion to achieve something pushes me hard and I gear up! By lunch time, I am exhausted, mind you my day started at 5! Again, the end time is not in my hands, and if the kid has exams, anything in the family, I need to go and stand for permission! How humiliating that is, I only know! Appraisal time, I am criticized saying you are leaving early by 7!! Being a mom is your problem and not mine!

If I am a home maker, I cannot confine my timings and after sending everyone off, I again have a tea and look at my to-do list for the day! Buy oil, craft items for kid’s project before he returns, clean the house, do the laundry, help the maid do her work neatly. She won’t move the furniture, if we do, she will sweep around it! Prepare idli batter, any masalas that’s getting over, plan!

Second cooker and again rice and whatever for kids! You can do your project at work but equally you must wrack your brain for lunch, the trickier challenge is the dinner where you don’t have to repeat the breakfast or lunch!

Help kids with classes, homework, any activity, dinner, next days’ timetable, keep the uniform, shoes, lunch bags all ready and by the time they hit the bed, its 9! You still have one hour left to have your dinner and finish off the day before your pillow stretches its hand towards you!

Come exam time, double work!
As a working mother, project will have a release!
When maid is most wanted, she takes leave! Again, double work!
Hubby assigns some tasks, like make an entry in corporation office, or check something online! (He’s thinking, she’s at home and can do it!)
Kids assign some work, Amma this needs to be done. (Amma can and will do it!)

I also think, I can do something, but I am not able to do it!

Realise, guys! It’s like housework quote,
“Nobody observes until its done, but everyone notices when it’s not done”
Amma, Diwali is coming! What all are you planning to make? Hey, can we travel in December vacation! The voice inside my head is bawling saying NOO... I cannot plan, execute, pack, unpack for another vacation! Even in vacation, everyone will watch TV and I never get my turn! Give me a break! And that’s real vacation! Amma sleeps all the time! Yes, she does out of fatigue!

Similarly, nobody appreciates the fact that Amma is doing so much for us but when she does it a little late or with a little mess, there is zero tolerance!
So, where is my tolerance level?! How many times, have I asked to clean up?! I am planning to buy speakers, a very powerful one that if I speak up from anywhere in the house, it will be heard all around! Or I can even get hearing aids for everyone! Or some kind of new technology which opens, resonates my voice in the ears of my family members!

Life is tough for us too. We are not givers, always!
When you take the family out for lunch, it’s like as if some great gift is given! See, I have given you a free day! What big deal?! Don’t I deserve this?! Why it needs to be mentioned?
Enough of the gyan, take one hour for yourself, that’s easier said than done! It’s enough if everyone keeps quiet and does their job well so that we can do something for ourselves, to feel proud of!

Dedicated to all those women, who put their families and kids first, in all situations!
