To be or Not to be?!
The news about the demise of a student in our top notch college, the pride of our country must have shaken everyone and I am no exception!
What are we doing wrong? Why its not taught to children that anything that pushes you beyond your limits can be forsaken if you feel you can't take it anymore! You don't have to endure it just to get that degree! Of what use is it, if it can't make you happy?!
Education is to enhance the skills but if foundation of life is tested, it can be detoured!
Anything, you come to us, your parents, lets talk and take a decision. Even if we scold or comment, its okay, accept it and then we will decide. Just like their support to pursue a course, they will also let you derail if the need arises!
Family is not only for cake cuttings and celebrations but also to shoulder you and listen to you! No matter what, we love you always and stand by you thick and thin!This should be etched in our children's minds!
This again brings me to a point, children should fail more! They should not win in competitions and should taste, eat failure! The pain and the feedback will make their internal soil strong and accepting to the upcoming storms and droughts of life! For this, we should make them participate in many events according to their interests from an young age. Prize is not the focus but participation is! Gift them a pencil or an eraser or a crayon for every competition attended, let alone win or lose! It will boost them.
Ethics and Education should go hand in hand! When are we going to learn the values! How many movies we need to watch like "3 idiots" to understand what stress can do to a student?! Deadlines can be extended, projects can be redone but none of these matter if a life is gone!
So what, if you get less marks? so what, if you can't clear an interview? Nothing will be important to you after few years! Then we look back and smile at ourselves how we attached our feelings to these small matters as if our life is revolving around it! Move the problem a little away and we can see the solutions. Keep them close, we can see just them and nothing beyond!
At any point, we are NOT stuck! We can make changes and we have options. More than anyone, we are our road blocks. Technology has pushed us all into separate islands and instead of talking to each other, we text each other. The emoticons cannot show our emotions face to face!
Nobody needs anybody physically but we all crave deep inside us for acceptance! If we say, let's talk, everyone makes a face and wants that to end in a jiffy whereas we are ready to spend hours on social media just beacuse we don't see anyone face to face!
Teachers are parents too and should focus on the child's welfare. If dedication is not your cup of tea, kindly spare the teaching jobs! Thats why we still fall at our teacher's feet in our country! We still honour teachers and doctors as noble professions!
To be or not to be should never arise in the mind of a student! Lets all ensure we will correct it with us, within our homes and let this question never even occur to anyone!
