E-X-A-M-S

E-x-a-m-s!

The very word is dreadful! It reminds me of my school days and how I miserably had written many and decently a few and managed to score what I could! Now that my kids are taking their first exams in their school life, I had to be that pillar of support for them, just like any mom! If the Dad takes up the role, we can be sure about the results! In went their exam pad, a pencil box loaded with 4 pencils, erasers, ruler, etc..
A friend of mine requested for permission to leave early, for her daughter is having Tamil exam the next day, to which the manager gracefully said, please go! Everyone faces the music!
When I made my kids to study, I realized, both being twins are having different exams! On the plus side, one cannot distract the other but my daughter cannot be underestimated!
She will talk about that subject with her brother in which he has an exam or she can talk compeltey unrelated too! So I decided to divide and rule and sent one to the bedroom with few questions to be answered while I sat with my daughter in the hall.
This genius idea came up when previously, because of the room reversal, she kept on coming out marching asking for something or the other from the bedroom! Experience indeed is a good teacher but here my daughter excelled!
On the negative side, I had to again prepare the questions for the other kid whose exam is yet to come! I just thought we will cross the bridge when we go!
Then an intersection happened! The second exam was same for both,  that too Tamil! I was actually shaking because both the teachers have taught differently and both have to answer different set of questions! This made it tough for me! I decided not to take them to their drawing classes and sat with them dedicated! The irony is that though I know Tamil, I was a self-taught as I had never studied in school and here I am, ready to teach them! Bless them!
Now, the distraction was more! He was answering her questions and she was trying his! Finally, the teacher in me awoke with a lion’s roar and the jungle became quiet! I pitied my son as he was struggling with his spellings and close to tears! I ordered him to stop studying! He looked as if I said something unbelievable! I really meant it and I told him, he can go eat and sleep.
Then came my daughter’s turn, she took it little casually than him and her words were simple to learn too. She too hit the bed and slept in no time!
When I woke them up in the moring, I told him to be bold and answer whatever he can! I just told them to check their answers before handing in and also to come back to a section if it consumes more time.
They have now gone to give their exams and here I am blogging about it and the suspense will be there till 3! Especially on these days, the van will come late, the kid will talk about everything else other than the exam until we lose our calm!
Long hail our education system and its exams and its off-springs the stress to the mom and kid, the marks and its results!
